AN INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE, GATHER, AUDITION
Join Boom Arts, Ben Landsverk, and The TEAM to be part of a one-of-a-kind community choir/resistance/joy/activism/theatre project, taking place in Portland in Spring 2019
Multi-Generational – All Singing Abilities Welcome
What is the project? Primer for a Failed Superpower is a performance project created by , an award-winning theatre ensemble from NYC, and brought to you in Portland by with collaborator Ben Landsverk. Join a multi-generational ensemble to prepare & perform new arrangements of iconic protest songs: songs that have celebrated and questioned what it means to be an American throughout our country’s past and present. Performances at The Old Church will also spotlight local & national social justice efforts.
Who are we seeking? Volunteer participants of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities who love to sing and are ready to embark on a singular adventure of music, theatre, & resistance, guided by some extraordinary local & national artistic collaborators.
Time commitment? Rehearsals will take place 2-3 evenings + 1 weekend afternoon/week from March 18-May 9 (off for Spring Break). Performances May 10 & 11. 80% rehearsal attendance + 100% performance attendance required.
Activity locations? Most rehearsals will take place at Sunnyside Community House on Yamhill & SE 35th in Portland & concerts are at The Old Church downtown. If transportation is a barrier for you, please inquire- we’re happy to work out a solution.

2. AUDITION FOR THE PROJECT.
Option 1: You can upload your video audition to Vimeo, Youtube, or Dropbox and email us a link to . Please tell us your name, age, & pronouns; tell us about your favorite social justice song and what it means to you; sing a social justice song that showcases your passion and your voice; and, if you play an instrument, showcase your ability.
Option 2: On the inquiry/statement of interest, let us know you’d like to participate in an in-person group audition on FEBRUARY 26 at Sunnyside Community House (+ additional date/location TBD). We'll get right back to you regarding specifics.
